Terms of Service
Acceptance of these Terms
SafPix is operated by SafPix LLC ("SafPix," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding legal agreement between you and SafPix LLC. By accessing or using SafPix — including uploading or processing any image — you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use SafPix.
You must be at least 13 years old to use SafPix, and if you are under 18 you must have a parent or guardian's permission. By using SafPix you confirm that you meet these requirements.
You use SafPix entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for the images you choose to process and for any decision or action you take based on SafPix.
What SafPix is (and isn't)
SafPix is an informational tool that performs statistical forensic analysis on images. It provides probabilistic indicators, not definitive conclusions. Here's what that means in practice:
- A "looks clear" score does not certify, guarantee, or verify that an image is authentic
- A "red flags" score does not prove an image is fake, AI-generated, or manipulated
- SafPix is not a forensic laboratory
- SafPix is not a certification authority
- SafPix is not a substitute for professional forensic analysis
We built SafPix to help people make more informed judgments about images they encounter online. It's a powerful screening tool — but screening is not the same as certifying.
No warranties
SafPix is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy.
We do not warrant that the analysis will be accurate, complete, reliable, or error-free. Here's the reality:
- False positives happen — real, unedited images sometimes get flagged
- False negatives happen — AI-generated or manipulated images sometimes look clean
- New AI techniques evolve constantly — generation methods that didn't exist when we built a detector may evade it entirely
Image forensics is probabilistic by nature. Anyone who tells you their tool is 100% accurate is not being honest with you. We'd rather be upfront about the limitations.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SafPix and its creators, operators, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from or related to:
- Your use of or inability to use SafPix
- Any analysis results or scores provided
- Any decisions made based on SafPix results
- Any claims by third parties related to your use of SafPix results
This applies whether the damages are based on warranty, contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Liability cap. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of SafPix LLC and its creators, operators, and affiliates for all claims arising out of or relating to SafPix will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Not legal evidence
SafPix analysis is not designed, tested, or validated for use as forensic evidence in legal proceedings. Full stop.
Do not present SafPix results as proof of authenticity or manipulation in any legal, administrative, or regulatory context. Courts require chain-of-custody documentation, validated methodologies, and expert testimony — SafPix provides none of these.
If you need forensic analysis for legal purposes, engage a qualified digital forensics professional. We mean this sincerely — the stakes in legal proceedings are too high for a consumer screening tool.
Not professional advice
SafPix and all of its content — including analysis results, the "inspect it yourself" guidance, checklists, the scam-recovery guide, and any tips — are provided for general informational purposes only. They are not legal, financial, investment, medical, psychological, relationship, or safety advice, and do not create any professional or advisory relationship.
Do not rely on SafPix as a substitute for professional judgment. For decisions that matter, consult a qualified professional. In an emergency, or if you believe you are in danger, contact your local emergency services or law enforcement.
Not a consumer reporting agency
SafPix is not a "consumer reporting agency" and its results are not "consumer reports" under the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or any similar law. You agree not to use SafPix, in whole or in part, to make or influence decisions about a person's eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing or tenancy, education, or any other purpose with a legal or similarly significant effect.
Your responsibilities
By using SafPix, you agree to:
- Use results as one input among many — not as a sole basis for decisions about people, content, or situations
- Not use results to harass, defame, or make false accusations — a SafPix score is not grounds to accuse someone of fraud, catfishing, or deception
- Not present results as definitive proof or certification — saying "SafPix proved this is fake" misrepresents what the tool does
- Exercise your own judgment — SafPix gives you data points, but the interpretation and any resulting actions are yours
Sharing results
If you share SafPix results — share cards, PDF reports, screenshots — you are responsible for the context in which you share them.
Sharing a SafPix report with commentary that presents it as definitive proof of forgery or authenticity is your responsibility, not ours. We can't control how you frame the results, but we can be clear: SafPix results are informational indicators, and every report includes a disclaimer saying exactly that.
If someone shares a SafPix result with you, treat it as one data point — not a verdict.
Acceptable use and prohibited conduct
SafPix processes your images on your own device — we never receive, see, or store them. You are fully responsible for what you process and how you use the results. You agree not to use SafPix to:
- Process, create, or store any content that is unlawful — including, without limitation, child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or other illegal imagery. Because processing happens locally, SafPix never receives such content, but using the tool for it is strictly prohibited.
- Harass, stalk, "dox," defame, threaten, or invade the privacy of any person
- Violate anyone's intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights
- Break, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service or its security
- Use SafPix anywhere its use would be illegal or in violation of any applicable law
The SafPix tools (Clean, Blur & hide, Stamp, QR)
The utility tools are provided on the same "as is," best-effort, no-guarantee basis as the analysis, and you are responsible for checking their output before relying on it:
- Clean removes common metadata (EXIF/GPS) but may not remove every trace — confirm a file is acceptable before sharing it publicly
- Blur & hide only covers the regions you select — you are responsible for confirming every sensitive detail is actually covered before sharing
- QR check uses heuristics to flag risky links; a "looks okay" result is not a guarantee of safety — verify the destination yourself
- Stamp adds a visible watermark that can deter reuse but does not legally prevent anyone from copying or misusing an image
Third-party links and services
SafPix may link to or rely on third-party services (for example reverse-image-search engines, scam-reporting databases, map providers, payment processing by Stripe, and content-delivery networks). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites, services, or content. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Pro tier
Pro features are unlocked via payment processed by Stripe (one-time scan or monthly subscription). Here's the deal:
- All payments are final — refunds are at our sole discretion and may be requested by emailing support@safpix.com
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel at any time through Stripe's customer portal — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- Pro features are subject to the same "no warranties" and "limitation of liability" terms as the free tier — paying doesn't change the probabilistic nature of the analysis
- We reserve the right to modify Pro pricing, features, or availability at any time. Existing subscriptions will be honored at their purchased rate until the end of the current billing period
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SafPix, its creators, operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to:
- Your use of SafPix or any results it produces
- Your violation of these terms
- Any content you share, publish, or distribute that incorporates SafPix results
- Any claim by a third party related to actions you took based on SafPix analysis
In plain English: if you use a SafPix result to accuse someone of something and it goes sideways, that's on you — not us.
Age requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use SafPix. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the service.
Intellectual property
SafPix, its name, logo, design, and forensic analysis methodology are the intellectual property of SafPix and its creators. You may not copy, reproduce, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on SafPix's analysis engine, interface design, or branding without prior written permission.
You retain full ownership of any images you scan. We claim no rights over your images or the content you analyze.
Service availability
We make no guarantees about uptime or availability. SafPix may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without prior notice.
Governing law, arbitration & class-action waiver
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Please read this section carefully — it affects how disputes are resolved and limits your rights.
Informal resolution first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to email us at support@safpix.com and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
Binding individual arbitration. Except as stated below, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to SafPix or these Terms will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, not in court. Arbitration uses a neutral arbitrator, is more informal than a lawsuit, and review of an award is limited.
Arbitration provider, rules & fees. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules (or, if AAA is unavailable, by JAMS under its Streamlined Rules), as modified by these Terms. For any claim seeking less than US$10,000, SafPix will pay the arbitration filing fee and the arbitrator's fees, unless the arbitrator finds the claim frivolous; any in-person hearing will be held in the county where you live, or by phone/video at your option. Delegation: the arbitrator decides all threshold questions about the interpretation, scope, and enforceability of this arbitration agreement — except that a court (not an arbitrator) decides any challenge to the class-action waiver below.
Class-action and jury-trial waiver. You and SafPix agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or member in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. You and SafPix waive any right to a jury trial.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property. Nothing here waives any right that cannot be waived by law.
30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@safpix.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your name. If you opt out — or where arbitration does not apply — disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you and SafPix consent to their jurisdiction.
Force majeure
SafPix is not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages, network or device failures, acts of God, or actions of third parties.
Entire agreement; no waiver; assignment
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and SafPix regarding the service. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor or affiliate.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Privacy
See our separate Privacy Policy for full details on how SafPix handles (and doesn't handle) your data and images.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted prominently. Continued use of SafPix after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
